Now that we know what Bombay Mix is, what is Bombay Mix made of? Bombay mix snack mixes differ, but typically they include chickpea flour noodles (also known as sev), dried peas, chickpeas, puffed rice, fried lentils, fried onions and nuts. The mix is usually seasoned with a spicy blend, traditionally made using salt, chilli powder, ground cumin, ground coriander and turmeric, but this can differ depending on the recipe used! How Are Prawn Crackers Made?
Prawn crackers are a delicious snack and side dish to your favourite Chinese and Asian dishes. These crunchy crackers are believed to have appeared in the 16th century, where it is said that, after a feast, leftover prawn heads were used to make the very first batch of prawn crackers. Although they are a popular dish and one that most people have eaten, not many people know quite how prawn crackers are made.
Typically, prawn crackers are made using a mixture of prawns, water and tapioca flour. The mixture, once combined, is then rolled out, steamed then sliced. In order to avoid any moisture affecting the crunch, the slices are sun-dried to ensure maximum crispness once cooked. Next comes the cooking method. The dried crackers are deep-fried in very hot oil and in just a few seconds, transform from a semi-transparent wafer to fluffy and crunchy prawn crackers. Available as both plain and chilli and lemon flavoured, you can buy our Regal Foods prawn crackers as part of our popular snack mixes collection!
