New Year’s Eve Buffet Ideas & Inspiration

Christmas is over and it’s time to ring in the New Year! Whether you are planning on throwing a lavish bash with friends and family or are having a smaller gathering with close ones, you’ll likely be thinking about what kind of food you can serve on the night.

If you’re looking for quick and easy sharing dishes, then we’ve got some great ideas for a New Year’s Eve buffet that not only look great but taste great too and leave you with plenty of time to enjoy the New Year’s Eve celebrations!

Moreish Hot Wings

Wings are a buffet staple and if you’re looking to put on a New Year’s Eve buffet, then they are a great addition! They’re quick and easy to make, taste delicious and can be tailored to suit the taste of your guests. At Regal Foods, we have a fantastic selection of bottled marinade sauces that lend themselves perfectly to chicken wings.

Simply put your chicken wings into a large bowl and cover generously with your choice of Regal marinade (we love the jerk chicken marinade!). Leave to marinate for at least 4 hours, or overnight if you have time, then place on a covered baking tray or grill and cook in the oven at 180º until cooked through then serve with a cooling yoghurt or ranch dressing.

Sprout Bhaji Snacks

Whether you’ve got sprouts leftover from your Christmas dinner or simply just love them, these sprout bhaji snacks are sure to be a surprise favourite with your guests if you serve them as part of the New year’s Eve buffet. They’re really easy to make and don’t require you to buy any ingredients that you might not already have in the cupboard.

To make, you will need 200g gram flour, 25g plain flour, 1tsp ground turmeric, 1tsp cumin seeds, 1tsp black mustard seeds, ½ tsp of Regal Himalayan salt flakes, 200ml chilled sparkling water, 200g shredded brussel sprouts, 1 green chilli halved and sliced (leave the seeds in if you want them spicy), 1 onion finely sliced and vegetable oil.

For your sprout bhaji snacks, tip the flours, spices and salt into a large bowl and then, using a whisk, add in the sparkling water until a thick batter forms. Stir through the sprouts, onion and chilli, making sure to mix until fully coated. Fill a pan around ⅓ of the way full with vegetable oil and heat until it is around 180º. Using a tbsp, get a heaped spoonful of the mixture and carefully drop into the oil. Fry for 3-4 minutes, or until golden, and drain on some kitchen paper. Serve with our yoghurt & mint sauce for a delicious side dip for your New Year’s Eve buffet.

Decorate Your Own Cupcakes

If your family includes younger children who will be coming along, then why not make them their own little buffet table with plain fairy cakes for them to decorate? Not only will it keep them entertained for a little while, but it means they get to make delicious cupcakes for everyone. Put icing, sprinkles and sweets in small bowls for them to use to decorate their cupcake creations and serve as part of their own New Year’s Eve buffet.

Sparkling Peach Mocktail

You’ve sorted the food for your New Year’s Eve buffet, now ring in the New Year with a sparkling mocktail for all guests to enjoy! To make a sparkling alcohol-free mocktail, you will need our Regal Foods mango juice, lemon juice and your choice of sparkling alcohol-free wine or lemonade.

Chill all ingredients before serving, then before serving, mix together the mango and lemon juice. In champagne flutes, fill ⅓ of the way with mango juice and top with your sparkling alcohol-free wine or lemonade and serve just in time for midnight!
